Fine motor skills

Play-dough mats:  These mats had a purpose such as making flowers in a pot, planting seeds in soil and making the spikes of a garden fork.  This activity promoted the development of fine motor skills and co-ordination as children manipulated the play-dough.   They strengthened their fingers, wrists and hands.

Water-painting clay pots:   The pots were painted using corks, brushes and sponges.  The children developed a positive disposition as they were creative and confident in their contributions.   They were free to choose  from the materials and paints available and were encouraged to make their own design on the pot.
