While taking turns, the children were encouraged to think and talk about those occasions when flowers are given to people as a gesture of love or when flowers adorn a celebration such as a wedding. After the discussion the children were shown the flower flashcards and they were free to choose their favourite one, describe it and name it. The dry flowers helped the children see each flower closely and match it to the correct flower card. To end circle time 'Tulips from Amsterdam' was downloaded and the children were able to dance to the tune of the song. It was a pleasure to see that some of them pretended to whistle to the tune of the song as well. Later on in the day, a flower matching card game was available for individual play.
